This is a very rare and beautiful property combining everything you could possibly desire in Venice – a quiet and peaceful location, stunning views, absolutely original interiors with high ceilings, frescoes, terrazzo flooring, as well as an additional ground floor apartment giving on to the most beautiful garden and loggia imaginable. The property requires updating and when complete will be one of the most stunning homes in Venice.
The property comprises, on the piano nobile, a very large double aspect main sala with balcony overlooking the Giudecca Canal, further rooms overlooking the wonderful courtyard garden, three/four bedrooms, two bathrooms and good sized kitchen. The downstairs apartment is a small studio with kitchenette and bathroom and access on the the wonderful garden with its covered portico and fabulous dining space.
The property has a fascinating history in that as well as being a beautiful Gothic palazzo, one of the few original palaces on Giudecca from the 15th century and belonging to the ubiquitous Foscari family, it was owned in the late 19th century by Giovanni Stucky, the Molino Stucky owner, prior to his move to Palazzo Grassi. His initials and the date 1886 are on the landing of the staircase. He restored the property and what remains are two well-preserved ceilings (in the principal bedrooms, one in rococo style and one neoclassical) and a series of overdoor grisaille portraits in the sitting room. Stucky's son, who also lived here, was interestingly a business partner of Mariano Fortuny. The salone is upholstered with original fabric from Fortuny.
We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer this property for sale exclusively. The wonderful original features, combined with a contemporary overlay, will make a stunning and elegant home for both entertaining and relaxed living.
